Where is Jolly Ole Saint Nick? Well that can be answered in many ways depending on what you believe and where you live. One things for sure, Saint Nick, Santa as we know him, will be arriving this very Sunday afternoon in Kennebunkport. What's that you say, there's no snow for Santa and his reindeer led sleigh to land on? For those who live along the Coast of Maine, Santa arrives by lobster boat. That's right you heard it correctly....Santa arrives by lobster boat, and on the first weekend of Prelude.
Christmas Prelude has been a long lived tradition here in the Kennebunk's celebrating it's 25th year. It's gown in popularity year after year and people come from far and wide to help usher in the Holiday Season. The Friday night kick off is a tree lighting ceremony along with caroling in the heart of Dock Square. One can find many things to do from pancake breakfasts, lobster dinners, chowda luncheon to church and craft fairs. All the shops offer tasty tidbits to munch, some offer hot cider. Saturday night culminates the days activities with caroling with the Franciscan Brothers along with a live manger. The fun doesn't stop there, it continues all week long and ends on the second Sunday of December.
Visitors can be seen wearing festive sweaters, lighted antlers and even sombreros rimmed with white lights. Many of our guests at the 1802 House Inn have been attending for many years and have made it a 'family tradition'.
Sue and I want to wish all our guests and frequent readers of our blog a Healthy and Happy Hoilday Season.
